Accomplice to the Villain

ree

Grab your steaming cup of Cauldron Brew, a cozy blanket, your favorite candle, and get comfy because it is time for a review of the third book in the Assistant to the Villain series, Accomplice to the Villain.

There WILL be spoilers!! Here is your final warning.

Characters:

Evie: Our FMC

Evie is our amazing, goofy, adorable, female main character. Evie has no magical powers to note, but is known for keeping the office running. She has captured the heart of our so called Villain.

Villain (Trysten): Our MMC

The Villain! Who is secretly a cinnamon bun, do not let him lie to you. He is head over heels in love with Evie and his point of view this book, is perfection.

Kingsley: frog that used to be the crown prince

In Accomplice to the Villain we get way more of an insight into our frog friend. Including the backstory behind him spending so much time with the Maverine's. Poor Trysten has spent so much time and effort into reverse Kingsley's spell. After all, it was a curse meant for Trysten.

Clare: Sister to Trysten

Clare has a love hate relationship with Trysten. We see in this book how much she loves him but hates his actions. Clare has a specialty in potions. Her on again off again relationship with Tatiana has you rooting for them to work out their issues and have a very important complex conversation.

Tatiana: Healer

Long time friend with the Maverine's, this talented healer has been employed by villain and is the voice of reason in many situations. ( Tatiana + Clare are *Insert heart eyes here* )

Amara: Mother of The villain and Clare

Amara has a complex relationship with her and her kids, and by that I mean no relationship. She is selfish and only cares what helps her ascend through the ranks. She is the one who commissioned the witch to curse her own son.

Becky: Rebecka "Head of HR"

Our lovely prickly character Becky had an amazing arc last book. I appreciated and loved the way we saw her family dynamic play with how she treats and views the world.

Blade: Head of Magical Creatures

Blade, our head of all things magical creatures, is the much needed comic relief that in certain times of desperation was much needed. He is the perfect compliment to Becky (EEPP)

Lyssa: Sister to Evie

Lyssa is the younger sister to Evie that you cannot help but love. We see her gain a little more maturity this book as she experiences the world and meets her mother.

Gideon Sage: Brother to Evie

Gideon is back in this book but still very much on a tight leash. As they try and decide if he is trustworthy, he makes noticeable efforts towards helping this found family and their quest.

Nura: Evie's mom who has very special star powers that the king needs

We see more of Nura than we ever have in this book. I freaking loved the Lyssa reveal of having Nura's power!!

Griffen: Evie's horrible father

He is back briefly and he is is still horrible. I am spending no more time on this trashcan.

King Benedict: The king who seeks to remove all magic

King Benedict is still as awful. Between his spy in the mansion and Griffen's allegiance, he makes a powerful move that reveals the truth of Evie.

Scattered Thoughts:

Oh Hannah how you have tricked us. Oh yes, I am starting with the ending because this is scattered thoughts so that is where my brain is.

I thought this would be a trilogy and yet here we are, with a mother trucking cliff hanger.

Here is the deal, I jokingly said, "oh what is the king related to the Villain?" Turns out, he is. I loved it. The fact that Evie's powers were siphoned into him, is so sad on so many levels. Her life would've been his. Now Evie has to grapple with that. Who would Trysten be?

I was wondering when her powers would show. After Gideon and Lyssa having powers, I knew it had to show up at some point. Now we know why it had not made its debut just yet.

Okay, let us talk "side characters":

Becky my girl and her progress!!!! I am so proud of her opening up. It is so hard to be so guarded and trust anyone. Yet, she talked to her girls!! Becky and Blade are so lovely. I will fight for them.

If Blade died I would've lost my mind. I mean he is just adorable and I love him.

Evie's family is so complicated. This poor bundle of joy. I cannot stand Griffen. He is so manipulative. Of course we knew he would come back and play a role but dang. I also feel for Nura.

A point I adored, was the stained glass windows playing such a key role in finding the full prophecy. What a lovely bit.

Evie and the Villain's relationship is precious. Finally they talked it out. I am very happy with how Hannah handled the whole thing.

OKAY, now to talk about Kingsley. I knew the daughter of the witch would be his true love. hehehehehe. He was worrying me for a minute with how he was loosing consciousness. How scary. It was great to see how he means to each of the central characters. I am also so glad he got his own POV. He is #1 fan of Evie and the Villain and I think it was hilarious to read his view point of them.

I am at the edge of my seat waiting for the next book!!!!!

What are your thoughts?? Did I miss anything?

I bought my copy of Accomplice to the Villain at Fern & Fable Books!
